Be sure that if you haven't bought an EF phone or made a call to your own cell phone provider, to be sure you have a cell phone that will work in Italy, "yesterday" is when that should have happened so don't delay. If you have to buy a phone, it will cost you $24 to expedite shipping so be sure to take care of this ASAP.
It would be good for you to at least be able to say hello (informal default should just be Ciao (chee-ow-ah), please, thank you, good morning, one, two, three, etc. Without a doubt, everyone who intends to shop, needs to be able to ask if the person speaks English "Para Inglaise?"
